About Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago, situated in the southern Caribbean, consists of two main islands along with numerous smaller islands and islets. It is located just off the northeastern coast of Venezuela, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Caribbean Sea to the west.
Covering a total land area of approximately 5,131 square kilometers (1,981 square miles), Trinidad and Tobago is roughly equivalent in size to the state of Delaware in the United States.
The geography of Trinidad and Tobago is diverse, with Trinidad being more populous and industrialized, while Tobago is known for its pristine beaches and lush rainforests.
Trinidad is characterized by its central mountain range, the Northern Range, which runs from east to west across the island. This range is home to Trinidad's highest peak, El Cerro del Aripo, which reaches an elevation of 940 meters (3,084 feet) above sea level. The Northern Range gives way to lowland plains and mangrove swamps along the coasts.
In contrast, Tobago is characterized by its central hills, including the Main Ridge, which runs along the spine of the island. The Main Ridge is one of the oldest protected rainforests in the Western Hemisphere and is known for its biodiversity and scenic beauty. Tobago also boasts sandy beaches, coral reefs, and offshore islands.
Both islands of Trinidad and Tobago experience a tropical climate, with warm temperatures year-round and distinct wet and dry seasons. The islands' geography, with its fertile soils and favorable climate, supports agriculture, including the cultivation of sugarcane, cocoa, and citrus fruits.
Trinidad and Tobago's strategic location in the Caribbean has historically made it an important hub for trade and commerce, particularly in the energy sector, with significant reserves of oil and natural gas. Additionally, the islands' natural beauty and vibrant culture make them popular destinations for tourism and recreation
